Pinterest For E-Business - Daniela Lazovska Answers!

Pinterest is leading the images marketing recently in a big way! Unlike Instagram, Pinterest lets you "pin" photos with description and link of your website which should helps you to lead traffic to your website.

In this article, I did an interview with Daniela Lazovska, Freelance Pinterest marketer on a mission to convince skeptics that Pinterest works for all types of businesses and social media manager, asking her the main questions should anyone asks if he is willing to use Pinterest for E-Business.

Pinterest is just for images marketing?

Pinterest doesn't have to be just for images. Pintrest is a visual discovery tool and pinners use it to get inspired, to save ideas, create/do what they pin (create a DIY, prepare a recipe, buy a product, etc.), to learn, to follow their interests, Business owners can also pin videos, infographics, gifs, e-books, reports, etc. Any content can be pinned to an individual or group board if you create an image and link to a website. One thing that is very important to point out is that businesses should not be using link shorteners because Pinterest marks them as suspicious links. Always use the complete link and don't forget to add the link if you upload an image to a board. What I mostly pin are marketing and social media infographics and articles.

When I launched my ebook on Pinterest marketing in Spanish and Dutch, I pinned the cover of my ebook on several of my boards and lots of pinners repinned it and downloaded it.

How can Pinterest affect on brand awareness?

Pinterest is a great tool for building brand awareness. There are various ways it can be done:
- Create specific niche boards,
- Follow relevant boards,
- Find relevant group boards to join. Group boards have more followers than individual boards and more pinners get to see and repin the content. Use a free tool called Pingroupie to find group boards and follow the rules. Every boards has its rules, if contributors don't follow the rules they risk being removed from the group.
- Pin valuable content consistently. That way pinners get to see your pins more often and your business will be top-of-mind when they need what you offer.
- There are not many comments on Pinterest but if you leave comments you will certainly grab pinners' attention since they get a notification and a mail with the comment.
- Cross-promotion also helps with brand awareness. Share the most popular pins and boards on other social networks and in the email newsletter.

What do you think the most 3 important things that a Pinterest account should do?

A Pinterest account that is follow-worthy should be:
  • Helpful - has boards with valuable content that solves pinners' pains and problems.
  • Educational - offers educational content in the form of step by step tutorials, checklists, videos, blog articles, infographics, etc.
  • Entertaining - offers entertaining content and funny images. Industry humor works well on Pinterest and everyone loves a good laugh.

Why should I use Pinterest and not Flickr or Instagram?

The list of Pinterest benefits is very long. These are some of the most important ones:
- more visibilty,
- increase in traffic,
- better SEO,
- some boards that are optimized and offer fresh content regularly appear in Google search eg. Constant Contact's Small Business Quotes board is the first board that appears in Google results for that keyword phrase.

- Sales increase. If Pinterest is done right sales may explode, but businesses cannot expect to make money from Pinterest if they are too salesy and use the approach this is what we sell now buy.
- 80% of pins are repins, a great pin may go viral in no time.
- Pins live forever. Pins have longer shelf-life than any other social media content. Pins get repins and clicks weeks, months even years after they've been pinned to a board. Pinners find pins in Guided Search, related pins, topics (previously interests), not just in the Smart Feed and boards they follow. That{s why the number of followers is not as important as on other platforms.

More boards with less pins/Less categories with more pins, what do you prefer? Why?

More boards with less pins won't help a business on Pinterest. Especially if some of those boards are left empty or incomplete. It is better to create secret boards and make them public when you have at least 15 pins. Pinners follow mostly boards not accounts because they may not be interested in everything a business or a pinner is pinning. In that case more boards means less followers of all the boards the business/pinner has. I have a lot of boards but my account is a resource for marketers and I've decided to create a board for almost every topic related to marketing and social media. But for a business I wouldn't recommend more than 60 boards although there are many businesses with more than 100 boards doing a great job. It depends on the business, on the niche, the content and images available, how much new content can be created.

At the end of this interesting interview with Daniela whose answers were really so satisfying and so clear that should help anyone still has doubts about using Pinterest for E-Business.
